October's event featured a dynamic panel of women who have turned analytic data into creative opportunities to grow their business.

Ashley Boyce  U.S. Brand Manager, Unilever

Alison Gragnano, Executive Creative Director,Ogilvy

Lynn Pine, VP Brand Partnerships at POPSUGAR

Panel Moderated Jennifer Villani, The Story Lab SVP, Business Development & Innovation lead a dynamic conversation and addressed the challenges facing today's marketers.

W captured a few sound bites here:

We deal with the mounds of data everyday, but determining real trends vs "moment in time" explosions is critical for successful marketing.  Brands must "own the narrative" in order to grow, with listening and responding appropriately the keys to success in world of social media.  The panel emphasized the importance of building authentic partnerships and revealed the challenges of the savvy consumer who can filter for the inauthentic.

An interesting note for accelerating growth:  "Corporate America doesn't like tension, but start-ups are built on tension".  The successful brand/company identifies the consumer "tension point" and address the problem.

Speaker Lynn Pine,  Vice President, East Coast Brand Partnerships at POPSUGAR provided two POPSUGAR "Must Have" boxes which were raffled during the event.

All participants left with Lisa Sugar's book Power Your Happy which is an excellent read, as Lisa shares the key aspects of the personal experiences that shaped her into the leader she is today.  The book offers great tips to launch a fabulous career or to help you reset your priorities.

Crossix Solutions and Remedy Health Media to provided refreshments. CBS's digital network CBSN ( offered "Phone Wallets" to those who attended.  Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters, especially Carat for the great space!

“Data is a loaded term… and your definition likely depends on where in the media industry you’re sitting. And for some of us, that was a seat far, far away: ask anyone in media, advertising and entertainment and most will tell you they wanted to do something creative. Numbers? Research? Analytics? No thanks! But “data” is no longer just numbers, and to succeed in today’s media landscape understanding and leveraging data must be part of your job, even when it’s not. Because in what has become the ultimate Darwinian twist, "Data is driving creativity.“
